Photography Tuition Classes

We have received requests regarding photography tutoring. Depending on demand these will initially be offered on a one to one basis to allow Chris to cater for individual needs and level.

Level 1 - Basic introduction to your camera, settings and lenses. Image capture, storage and basic photoshop. This will take place at the gallery in Howe Street and in the immediate vicinity which happens to include some of the best places to shoot in Edinburgh.

If you are new to photography and own a digital dslr and want to know about camera settings, lenses, apertures, focal lengths, shutter speeds, histograms and megapixels etc then this is for you. Tips for setting your camera up to storage and retouching. Focal length and aperture. ISO. Lighting. Filters.

1 day - including lunch, £220 (1 person), £150/pp (2 people), £120/pp (3 or more people).

Level 2 - In the field. Now that you have a better idea of camera settings there is no better way to learn than by shooting. The day begins by discussing equipment and suitability. Methods of shooting from fast action to long exposure. We will travel to a local location (which will depend on the weather) to practice then return to the gallery for post production instruction to produce a print worthy image.

Please note this will be a landscape based course.

Requirements DSLR with at least one lens, tripod, data cards, camera bag. Clothing - waterproofs, sturdy shoes. Fitness level - You should be able to cope with mildly rough terrain, without it being overly demanding.

1 day - including lunch £250 (1 person), £175 (2 people), £150 (3 or more people). Lunch included. Groups larger than three people will need to provide their own transport.

Timing will depend on time of year.
